Nick Cave mudou uma música de Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds depois de receber conselhos de Chris Martin.
A banda de rock gravou seu LP de 2019 'Ghosteen' no estúdio do frontman do Coldplay, e ele vinha regularmente e de vez em quando dava sua opinião honesta sobre as músicas, e uma faixa ele os influenciou a mudar de fortemente industrial para tradicional balada era 'Waiting For You'.
Nick e companhia "não ficaram satisfeitos" com o conselho no início, mas ficaram agradecidos no final.
Falando à revista MOJO, Nick disse: "Chris é um cara muito engraçado, com um senso de humor perverso, mas ele também é incrivelmente franco.
"Ele diz sua verdade, como a vê, como uma questão de princípio.
"Principalmente, ele adorou o material, realmente adorou, mas ocasionalmente ele fez sugestões bastante desafiadoras que, se levadas em consideração, teriam alterado radicalmente a música".
E assim 'Waiting For You' deixou de ser uma "muito barulhenta, superagressiva" para uma "frágil balada da velha escola".
Nick continuou: "Nós nunca questionamos isso, mas quando tocamos para Chris, ele se virou para nós e disse: 'Eu amo muito vocês, mas há alguma chance de eu ouvir a música novamente sem o f* ***** fábrica de conservas?...'"
Questionado sobre o que eles achavam da crítica do hitmaker de 'Yellow', ele respondeu: "Na época, não estávamos tão satisfeitos.
"Nós tiramos o loop industrial e o que restou foi uma música muito bonita e vulnerável brilhando sozinha - uma balada clássica, da velha escola, crua e frágil e desimpedida. Então, graças a Deus por isso!"

The rock band recorded their 2019 LP 'Ghosteen' at the Coldplay frontman's studio, and he would regularly come in and every now and then impart his honest opinion on the songs, and one track he influenced them to change from heavily-industrial to a traditional ballad was 'Waiting For You'.
Nick and co "weren't pleased" with the advice at first, but were thankful in the end.
Speaking to MOJO magazine, Nick said: "Chris is a very funny guy, with a perverse sense of humour, but he's also disarmingly forthright.
"He tells his truth, as he sees it, as a matter of principle.
"Mostly, he loved the stuff, really loved it, but occasionally he made what were quite challenging suggestions that, if taken on board, would have radically altered the song."
And so 'Waiting For You' went from being a "very loud, super-aggressive" to a "fragile, old-school ballad".
Nick went on: "We had never really questioned it, but when we played it to Chris, he turned to us and said: 'I love you guys very much, but is there any chance I could hear the song again without the f****** canning factory?...'"
Asked what they thought of the 'Yellow' hitmaker's critique, he replied: "At the time, we weren't so pleased.
"We took away the industrial loop and what was left was a very beautiful, vulnerable song shimmering there on its own - a classic, old-school ballad, raw and fragile and unimpeded. So thank God for that!"
