Lizzo ficou emocionada por poder tocar flauta ao lado do artista virtuoso James Galway no Met Gala de 2023.
Durante o evento anual de moda realizado no Metropolitan Museum of Art em Nova York na noite de segunda-feira, o hitmaker Juice foi acompanhado pelo flautista da Irlanda do Norte para uma apresentação.
Refletindo sobre o dueto em uma postagem sincera no Instagram na quarta-feira, Lizzo se emocionou ao ter a oportunidade de sentar e estudar com seu ídolo musical.
"Quando meu pai faleceu, eu toquei Amazing Grace no Carnival of Venice em seu funeral... era minha promessa de nunca desistir. Agora, anos depois, tive a honra de tocar ao lado de Sir James Galway e receber aulas dele e até tocar sua flauta alto", escreveu ela ao lado de uma montagem de um minuto de duração mostrando-os ensaiando. "Posso dizer com confiança que não seria o músico que sou hoje sem a influência dele. Obrigado por tudo esta semana @sirjamesgalway! Você é realmente o Rei das Flautas e mal posso esperar para tocar com você novamente."
Além disso, Lizzo lembrou como descobriu o trabalho de James quando precisava de um "desafio" para seus estudos de flauta na quinta série quando tinha 11 anos e que seu O homem com a flauta de ouro "mudou a trajetória" de sua vida.
"Aprendi a maioria das canções de ouvido porque a partitura era muito difícil de ler na época, mas acabei me apaixonando pela virtuosística música de flauta e memorizei O Carnaval de Veneza (versão de James) quando tinha 14 anos. Meu pai ouviu isso e levou minha flauta muito a sério, ele me comprou aulas de professores de nível universitário e meus pais acabaram me dando Sasha Flauta para acompanhar", acrescentou o homem de 35 anos.
Em resposta à postagem de Lizzo, um representante de James, 83 anos, observou que ele estava "emocionado" em acompanhar a superestrela e sempre "valorizará" o momento.

During the annual fashion event staged at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday night, the Juice hitmaker was joined by the Northern Irish flute player for a performance.
Reflecting on the duet in a heartfelt Instagram post on Wednesday, Lizzo gushed over getting the opportunity to sit and study with her musical idol.
"When my dad passed away I played Amazing Grace into Carnival of Venice at his funeral... it was my promise to never give up. Now, years later I had the honor to play beside Sir James Galway, and receive lessons from him and even play his alto flute," she wrote alongside a minute-long montage of footage showing them rehearsing. "I can confidently say I wouldn't be the musician I am today without his influence. Thank you for everything this week @sirjamesgalway! You are truly the King of Flutes and I can't wait to play with you again."
In addition, Lizzo recalled how she first discovered James's work when she needed a "challenge" for her fifth-grade flute studies when she was 11 and that his The Man with the Golden Flute "changed the trajectory" of her life.
"I learned most of the songs by ear because the sheet music was too difficult to read at the time but eventually I fell in love with virtuosic flute music and memorized The Carnival of Venice (James Version) when I was 14. My father heard that and took my flute very seriously, he bought me lessons from university-level teachers and my parents eventually got me Sasha Flute to keep up," the 35-year-old added.
In response to Lizzos post, a representative for James, 83, noted that he was "thrilled" to accompany the superstar and will always "treasure" the moment.
