Ed Sheeran ganhou um processo de violação de direitos autorais por causa de seu hit Thinking Out Loud.
Em 2018, os herdeiros de Ed Townsend, que co-escreveu Let's Get It On com Marvin Gaye, processou a estrela de Shape of You por supostamente violar a lei de direitos autorais, alegando que ele copiou elementos da música de 1973 enquanto escrevia sua balada de 2014.
Mas após um julgamento no Tribunal Federal de Manhattan, um júri decidiu na quinta-feira que o cantor e compositor britânico não copiou Let's Get It On ao compor sua faixa após três horas de deliberações.
Sheeran ainda não comentou a vitória.
No entanto, de acordo com a ABC News, ele abraçou seus advogados quando o veredicto foi anunciado.
Em meio ao julgamento, Sheeran ameaçou parar de fazer música se perdesse o caso.
"Se isso acontecer, estou acabado, vou parar", disse o jogador de 32 anos, informou o Mail Online. "Acho realmente um insulto dedicar toda a minha vida a ser um artista e compositor e ter alguém diminuindo isso."
Representantes da família Townsend não comentaram a decisão.

Ed Sheeran has won a copyright infringement lawsuit over his hit song Thinking Out Loud.
In 2018, the heirs of Ed Townsend, who co-wrote Let's Get It On with Marvin Gaye, sued the Shape of You star for allegedly breaching copyright law, claiming he copied elements of the 1973 song while writing his 2014 ballad.
But following a trial at the Manhattan Federal Court, a jury decided on Thursday that the British singer-songwriter did not copy Let's Get It On when composing his track following three hours of deliberations.
Sheeran has not yet commented on the victory.
Yet, according to ABC News, he hugged his lawyers when the verdict was announced.
Amid the trial, Sheeran threatened to quit making music if he lost the case.
"If that happens, I'm done, I'm stopping," the 32-year-old said, reported Mail Online. "I find it really insulting to devote my whole life to being a performer and a songwriter and have someone diminish it."
Representatives for the Townsend family have not commented on the decision.
