John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter e Daniel Davies compartilharam o primeiro single de seu próximo álbum.
O trio compartilhou ‘My Name Is Death’ e lançou um vídeo para seu novo single, que apresenta nomes como Natalie Mering, Staz Lindes e Misha Lindes. O single aparecerá em seu novo álbum, 'Lost Themes IV: Noir'.
Discutindo a inspiração por trás de seu novo álbum, Daniel disse: “Sandy [King, esposa e produtora de John] deu a John um livro de Natal, com fotos de filmes noir, todas fotos daquela época.
"Eu estava olhando e pensei: 'Gosto dessas imagens e do que esses títulos me fazem pensar. E se baseássemos isso vagamente? E se os títulos fossem de alguns dos filmes noir favoritos de John?'"
O vídeo do novo single foi comparado a um filme noir em miniatura.
John, 76 anos – que escreveu e dirigiu ‘Halloween’, o icônico filme de terror de 1978 – disse: “Noir é um gênero exclusivamente americano nascido no cinema do pós-guerra.
"Nós crescemos amando o noir e fomos influenciados por ele para este novo álbum. O vídeo celebra esse estilo e nossa nova música, 'My Name is Death'."
Enquanto isso, John acredita que cada um deles traz algo distinto para seu novo álbum.
Ele explicou: “Isso é quem somos, eu acho.
"Daniel é o aventureiro. Ele busca novos sons, novos rumos. Ele tenta coisas que eu não tinha pensado. Ele é muito mais ousado do que eu e enriquece tudo.
"Cody é o músico. Ele é um sábio em música. Ele entende de música. Dependemos dele para nos resgatar."
Questionado sobre o que ele traz para a colaboração, John respondeu: "Eu sou a experiência. Já fiz música para filmes antes."
'Lost Themes IV: Noir' será lançado em 3 de maio.

John Carpenter, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies have shared the first single from their upcoming album.
The trio have shared 'My Name Is Death' and released a video for their new single, which features the likes of Natalie Mering, Staz Lindes and Misha Lindes. The single will appear on their new album, 'Lost Themes IV: Noir'.
Discussing the inspiration behind their new record, Daniel said: "Sandy [King, John’s wife and producer] had given John a book for Christmas, of pictures from noir films, all stills from that era.
"I was looking through it, and I thought, ‘I like that imagery, and what those titles make me think of. What if we loosely based it around that? What if the titles were of some of John’s favourite noir films?'"
The video for the new single has been likened to a miniature noir movie.
John, 76 - who wrote and directed 'Halloween', the iconic slasher film from 1978 - said: "Noir is a uniquely American genre born in post-war cinema.
"We grew up loving noir and were influenced by it for this new album. The video celebrates this style and our new song, 'My Name is Death'."
Meanwhile, John believes that each of them brings something distinctive to their new album.
He explained: "This is who we are, I think.
"Daniel’s the adventurer. He pushes for new sounds, new directions. He tries things that I haven’t thought of. He’s a lot more daring than I am, and he enriches the whole thing.
"Cody’s the musician. He’s a savant at music. He understands music. We depend on him to rescue us."
Asked what he brings to the collaboration, John replied: "I’m the experience. I’ve done music for movies before."
'Lost Themes IV: Noir’ will be released on May 3.
