Os Black Crowes estão preocupados que “não haja mais humanidade” na música.

Os criadores do hit 'Hard to Handle' adoram ouvir o caos e as imperfeições que podem ser detectadas em discos antigos e estão preocupados que as ferramentas de edição estejam sendo usadas em demasia para fazer as faixas soarem perfeitas, porque isso deixa algo faltando nas músicas.

Rich Robinson disse ao jornal The Sun: “O problema com muita música hoje é que não há humanidade nela.

“Há uma busca pela perfeição e um uso dessas ferramentas que suga todas as qualidades humanas.

“Ouça um disco dos Beatles – eles estão por toda parte. O mesmo aconteceu com Led Zeppelin e os Stones. É por isso que seus registros são emocionantes.

“Alguns dos meus momentos favoritos em meus discos favoritos apresentam [deslizes]. Você ouve 'Since I’ve Been Loving You' do Zeppelin e ouve o bumbo estridente de John Bonham. Isto é tão legal.

“Você ouve sobre os Stones e o caos que envolveu a gravação de 'Exile On Main St' nesta vila francesa mofada e está 100 graus.

“É incrível e perigoso e pode sair dos trilhos a qualquer momento, mas é brilhante e nunca acontece. Esse é o elemento humano.”

Mas o grupo acha que ainda existe um desejo genuíno pelo rock and roll no mundo hoje.

O irmão e colega de banda de Rich, Chris Robinson, disse: “Há alguns meses, vimos AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses e Metallica no Power Trip [Indio, Califórnia] na frente de 100.000 pessoas.

“Eu também assisti Queens Of The Stone Age recentemente no LA Forum. Eles estavam arrasando, tocando lindos riffs.”

Depois de fazer uma turnê de “obrigações contratuais” em 2014, o grupo seguiu caminhos separados e os irmãos ficaram cinco anos sem se falar.

Chris admitiu: “Tivemos que tirar isso do fogo.

“Desde o dia em que a turnê terminou, não falei com Rich até 2019.”

Rich, pai de cinco filhos, acrescentou: “Dois dos meus rapazes ainda eram muito pequenos na época e nunca conheceram Chris.

“Mas meus caras mais velhos sempre perguntavam: ‘Por que você nunca fala com ele?’”

E depois de um encontro casual, a dupla retomou o relacionamento e a banda de volta aos trilhos - mas não falou sobre o rompimento.

Chris disse: “Quando finalmente voltamos, acredite ou não – somos muito engraçados e estranhos à nossa maneira – não falamos sobre nosso rompimento um com o outro…

“Minha esposa e eu encontramos Rich e sua família no saguão do The Bowery Hotel, em Nova York.

“Naquele dia, nos comprometemos a tentar novamente. Nossa dinâmica é fraterna e muito profunda”.

The Black Crowes are worried there's "no humanity" in music anymore.

The 'Hard to Handle' hitmakers love to hear chaos and the imperfection that can be detected on old records and are concerned editing tools are being overused to make tracks sound flawless, because that leaves the songs with something missing.

Rich Robinson told The Sun newspaper: “The problem with a lot of music today is that there’s no humanity in it.

“There’s a pursuit of perfection and a use of these tools that sucks all human qualities out of it.

“Listen to a Beatles record - they’re all over the place. Same with Led Zeppelin and the Stones. That’s why their records are exciting.

“Some of my favourite moments on my favourite records have [slip] ups in them. You listen to Zeppelin’s 'Since I’ve Been Loving You' and you hear John Bonham’s squeaky kick-drum. That’s so cool.

“You hear about the Stones and the chaos that went into making 'Exile On Main St' in this mouldy French villa and it’s 100 degrees.

“It’s amazing and it’s dangerous and can fall off the rails at any time but it’s brilliant and it never does. That’s the human element.”

But the group think there is still a genuine desire for rock and roll in the world today.

Rich's brother and bandmate, Chris Robinson, said: “A few months ago, we saw AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses and Metallica at Power Trip [Indio, California] in front of 100,000 people.

“I also watched Queens Of The Stone Age recently at the LA Forum. They were rocking out, playing beautiful riffs.”

After going on a "contractual obligation" tour in 2014, the group went their separate ways and the brothers didn't speak for five years.

Chris admitted: "We had to take it off the heat.

"From the day that tour was over, I didn’t speak to Rich until 2019.”

Father-of-five Rich added: “Two of my guys were still really little at the time and they had never met Chris.

“But my older guys would always ask, ‘How come you never talk to him?’”

And after a chance meeting, the pair got their relationship, and the band, back on track - but didn't speak about their break.

Chris said: “When we eventually did get back together, believe it or not — we’re very funny and strange in our own way — we didn’t talk about our break from each other...

“My wife and I ran into Rich and his family in the lobby of The Bowery Hotel in New York.

“That day, we committed to giving it another go. Our dynamic is brotherly and it is very deep.”
