Ricky Martin revelou que seu pai o encorajou a se declarar gay.
O cantor porto-riquenho compartilhou no Andy Cohen Live da SiriusXM que seu pai o pressionou a falar sobre sua sexualidade.
Na entrevista, o hitmaker do Livin' La Vida Loca disse que seu pai, que é psicólogo, lhe disse: “Rick, você precisa se assumir”.
Ele acrescentou: "Especialmente quando me tornei pai, ele disse: 'O que você vai ensinar a seus filhos, a mentir?'"
Ricky se assumiu oficialmente em 2010, aos 38 anos, após anos de especulações sobre sua sexualidade.
Ricky observou que sua equipe discordou, dizendo que ele não precisava tornar pública sua sexualidade.
“'Você não precisa compartilhar, todo mundo sabe ao seu redor, você não precisa contar ao mundo, seus amigos sabem, sua família sabe, por que você precisa ficar na frente da câmera e falar sobre isso?' " ele se lembrou de sua equipe lhe contando.
“Eles não entenderam a importância disso”, disse Ricky, 52 anos, a Andy. "Agora eu entendo. Eu entendi antes deles o quanto é importante, não só para mim, mas ser um porta-voz."
Ele então compartilhou que quando se assumiu, em uma carta postada no X, antigo Twitter, ele se sentiu “incrível”.
“Eu gostaria de poder sair 20 vezes, foi incrível. Comecei a chorar como um bebê”, disse Ricky.
O hitmaker divide a filha Lucia e o filho Renn com seu agora ex-marido Jwan Yosef. Ele também tem os gêmeos Matteo e Valentino, que nasceram de barriga de aluguel.

The Puerto Rican singer shared on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live that his father had pushed him to speak out about his sexuality.
In the interview, the Livin' La Vida Loca hitmaker said that his father, who is a psychologist, told him, "Rick, you need to come out."
He added, "Especially when I became a father, he said, 'What are you going to teach your kids, to lie?'"
Ricky officially came out in 2010 at the age of 38 after years of speculation about his sexuality.
Ricky noted that his team disagreed, telling him he didn't need to make his sexuality public.
"'You don't need to share, everybody knows around you, you don't have to tell the world, your friends know, your family know, why do you need to stand in front of the camera and talk about it?'" he recalled his team telling him.
"They didn't understand the importance of it," Ricky, 52, told Andy. "Now I see it. I understood before they did how important it is, not only for me, but to be a spokesperson."
He then shared that when he came out, in a letter posted on X, formerly Twitter, he felt "amazing".
"I wish I could come out 20 times, it felt amazing. I started crying like a baby," Ricky gushed.
The hitmaker shares daughter Lucia and son Renn with his now ex-husband Jwan Yosef. He also has twins Matteo and Valentino, who were born via surrogate
